Our Programs

Our work is guided by a commitment to restoring justice, dignity, and opportunity to individuals and families impacted by cannabis prohibition. Our three core programs—Legal Support & Advocacy, Educational Fellowship Fund, and Healthcare & Hospice Services—address the legal, educational, and healthcare needs of affected communities around the world.

Legal Support & Advocacy

Why It Matters

Cannabis prohibition has unjustly criminalized millions of people worldwide, particularly marginalized individuals. Even in regions where cannabis laws have been reformed, many people remain incarcerated or burdened with criminal records. NICF’s Legal Support & Advocacy Program aims to reverse the damage caused by unjust policies, offering legal assistance and promoting policy reforms.

Our Services

Pro Bono Legal Representation:

NICF provides free legal representation for individuals facing cannabis-related charges. Our network of pro bono lawyers and legal experts defends individuals in court, aiming to reduce or overturn unjust sentences.

Litigation Support & Legal Fees Fund:

The foundation offers financial support for legal fees and litigation expenses. This fund covers court costs, lawyer fees, and other related expenses for individuals who cannot afford proper legal representation.

Record Expungement Assistance:

For individuals with past cannabis-related convictions, NICF assists in supporting record expungement and pardon campaigns and crowdfund initiatives. By clearing criminal records, we help people regain access to employment, housing, and other social benefits.

Legal Education & Rights Awareness:

NICF organizes workshops and seminars to educate affected individuals about their legal rights. We aim to empower people with the knowledge and resources they need to challenge unfair legal practices.

Policy Advocacy & Reform

NICF actively advocates for cannabis policy reforms by collaborating with human rights organizations, legal experts, and policymakers. We push for:

• Decriminalization and legalization of cannabis use and possession

• Fair sentencing laws and the release of individuals imprisoned for minor cannabis-related offenses

• Protection of medical cannabis patients from prosecution

Global Legal Impact

Each year, NICF’s board prioritizes countries and regions where legal support is most urgently needed. Through strategic litigation, advocacy campaigns, and direct legal assistance, we aim to create long-term systemic changes while providing immediate relief to individuals in need.

Educational Fellowship Fund

Why It Matters ?

Cannabis prohibition often disproportionately affects families, leaving children and young people vulnerable when their parents or guardians are incarcerated. NICF’s Educational Fellowship Fund aims to break the cycle of hardship by empowering affected youth through education, mentorship, and career development.

Our Fellowship Program

Scholarships & Grants:

NICF provides scholarships and educational grants to children and young adults whose parents or guardians are imprisoned for cannabis-related offenses. These funds cover tuition, educational materials, and other academic expenses, allowing recipients to continue their education without financial barriers.

Mentorship & Career Development:

In addition to financial support, NICF offers mentorship programs that connect fellowship recipients with industry professionals, educators, and advocates. Through career counseling, skills development, and guidance, we help students build sustainable futures.

Vocational Training & Skill Building:

For youth who may not pursue traditional higher education, NICF offers vocational training programs. These programs provide hands-on skills in areas such as agriculture, technology, healthcare, and trades, enhancing employability and financial independence.

Eligibility & Selection Process

Eligibility: Youth aged 15–25 whose parents or legal guardians have been incarcerated due to cannabis-related charges.

Selection Criteria: Academic merit, financial need, and personal impact story.

Fellowship Duration: 1–4 years, renewable based on academic performance and individual circumstances.

Long-Term Impact

By investing in the education and development of affected youth, NICF aims to:

• Reduce the intergenerational effects of cannabis-related incarceration.

• Provide children with the tools they need to escape cycles of poverty and marginalization.

• Build a network of future leaders and advocates who drive positive change.

Healthcare & Hospice Services

Why It Matters

Cannabis prohibition has limited access to cannabis-based medical treatments for individuals with chronic pain, terminal illnesses, and palliative care needs. NICF’s Healthcare & Hospice Services Program addresses this gap by offering compassionate care and pain management to marginalized and underserved individuals.

Our Healthcare & Hospice Services

50-Bed Hospice Center (Nepal)

As part of our first international project, NICF will launch a 50-bed hospice center in Nepal in September 2025. This facility will provide:

Palliative Care: Specialized medical care for individuals with life-threatening illnesses, focusing on pain relief and quality of life.

Pain Management Services: Integration of cannabis-based therapies (where legally permissible) to alleviate chronic pain and improve patient well-being.

Holistic Care: Psychological counseling, physiotherapy, and complementary therapies to enhance the overall care experience.

Mobile Health Camps:

NICF will conduct mobile health camps in remote and underserved areas, offering free medical consultations, pain management services, and basic healthcare. These camps will provide access to:

General health check-ups

Distribution of essential medications

Chronic pain management sessions, including alternative therapies

Pain Management Programs:

For individuals suffering from chronic pain conditions, NICF will offer cannabis-based treatments (where legally allowed) alongside conventional therapies. These programs will be overseen by licensed healthcare professionals and adhere to strict medical standards.

Targeted Beneficiaries

Patients with chronic or terminal illnesses lacking access to proper palliative care.

• Individuals affected by cannabis prohibition, including prisoners released with health complications.

• Underserved rural communities with limited access to healthcare services.

Partnerships with Medical Institutions

NICF will collaborate with local hospitals, palliative care organizations, and cannabis research institutions to ensure the highest standards of care. Our long-term vision includes expanding the hospice and healthcare services to other regions globally.

Our Commitment to Lasting Impact

Through these three core programs, NICF is committed to creating tangible, life-changing impacts:

Legal Empowerment: Defending the rights of individuals unfairly criminalized by cannabis laws.

Education & Opportunity: Supporting the next generation through fellowships and vocational programs.

Compassionate Healthcare: Providing accessible pain management and palliative care for those in need.

Together, these initiatives reflect our mission to restore dignity, promote equity, and build a compassionate future for individuals and families affected by unjust cannabis policies.
